We dine out for AIDS, walk for suicide prevention, bid on artwork to feed the hungry, and more. All wonderfully worthy causes which are well worth the effort. But what about you? Do you take the time to care for yourself? Do you consider yourself a worthy cause? Worthy enough to deserve a moment of healing? Pampering? Revitalizing?
Healing the world starts with healing you. Take the time to consider yourself a worthy cause. And if, like so many of us, you can't or don't, then consider your kids, neighbors, co-workers, and community as a worthy cause, because they're tired of our exhausted, cranky existence in their presence. Our kids would love nothing better than to see us smile. Our co-workers will bow down and kiss the ground the day we walk in to the office full of happiness.
Why? Because there's nothing more healing to the people around us than to share a smile or a happy moment. Peace in the world starts with peace in you. If you find yourself complaining about what a horrible world this is, then let that remind you that you are a part of the problem until you heal yourself. You will never have the energy to do a darn thing about it anyway, until you heal yourself. You will only contribute to it, as your own pain spreads like a virus to those around you. Do yourself, and everyone around you a big favor. Consider yourself a worthy cause.
